Welcome to Lafayette
Lafayette is a slice of small-town charm.
Located in southeastern Boulder County, Lafayette is located approximately 18 miles north of Denver and 10 miles east of Boulder. The town has a population of approximately 28,000 and is nestled snugly in the rolling hills of Colorado’s stunning Front Range.
Lafayette was founded in 1888 by Mary E. Miller. She and her husband, Lafayette, moved to the area to farm the land they purchased. It wasn’t long until Lafayette became a part of the coal-mining boom that spread over eastern Boulder. By 1914, the town was thriving and had two banks and four hotels. Since its humble origins, Lafayette has evolved into a diverse and hip place to call home.
Architectural styles here vary from Craftsman to Ranch. The wide range of styles available here allows you to find something that fits your desires.

People and Lifestyle
One of the reasons that people are attracted to Lafayette is the great location. Being close to two large cities—Denver and Boulder—offers residents endless opportunities for entertainment and amenities. Plus, another perk is that you’ll have easy access to the Denver International Airport. However, Lafayette is far enough away for residents to enjoy a more laid-back lifestyle, making it the perfect oasis for those who want an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Lafayette has become an increasingly popular place to raise a family. Families with young children are drawn to the excellent schools, active lifestyle, and small-town charm.
